2022 MassDems Convention

On June 3rd and June 4th, Democrats will come together from across the Commonwealth to endorse statewide candidates ahead of the September Democratic Primary.

Congratulations on becoming a delegate or alternate to the 2022 MassDems Convention!


On Friday, June 3rd and Saturday, June 4th, delegates will gather virtually and at the DCU Center in Worcester to endorse candidates for statewide office, including Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary, Attorney General and Auditor, ahead of the Democratic Primary this September. 

Delegates, alternates, and guests will be able to attend the Convention virtually and all voting will take place remotely. Over the coming months, we’ll be closely monitoring changes in public health guidance, and adjusting our plans accordingly.

Registration Fees and Fee Waivers

Delegates and alternates both pay a $75 fee which helps the Party defray the substantial cost and is due by March 21st. A $15 late fee will apply after this date.

The MassDems are committed to ensuring that all delegates are able to attend the convention, regardless of financial standing. A reduced fee of $50 is available for students, seniors, and persons with disabilities.

If attending the convention presents a financial hardship, delegates and alternates may apply for a partial or full fee waiver here. 

 


Convention Voting Timeline

This year’s convention will be a hybrid event, with virtual participation options for delegates and alternates who cannot attend in-person proceedings at the DCU Center in Worcester. Voting on charter amendments and resolutions taking place the week prior to the convention and endorsement voting taking place on the day of the convention.

  • May 4: Charter amendments & resolutions due to the state party at convention@massdems.org
  • May 10 to 21: Amendment & resolution signature window. Charter amendments and resolutions not recommended for approval by their respective committees must receive 500 delegate signatures through an online form provided by MDP.
  • May 24 to 31: Amendment & resolution voting by electronic or telephonic ballot. Amendments and resolutions may include short statements for and against from their respective committees or delegates.
  • June 3 & 4: Convention Day and endorsement voting. Endorsement voting shall be by electronic ballot with at least 15 minutes to complete the ballot.

According to the Convention Rules, statewide candidates may have notified the Party by the January 28, 2022 deadline of their intent to seek the endorsement of the Convention. Those candidates are listed here. Candidates may also petition for endorsement by collecting the signatures of 500 delegates and submitting them to the Party by April 22, 2022.
