With Collapse of Trumpcare, Massachusetts Democratic Party Calls on Governor Baker to Abandon His Attack on Medicaid
BOSTON – The Massachusetts Democratic Party today issued the following statement regarding Trumpcare and Governor Charlie Baker’s efforts to cut Massachusetts’ Medicaid plan:
“Massachusetts families are relieved that the latest version of Trumpcare has collapsed, but we must remain vigilant and ready to fight any future attacks on our healthcare by President Trump and Republicans in Congress,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford. “Washington Republicans, after hearing loudly from their upset constituents, have rightly abandoned their attack on Medicaid, and Governor Baker should do the same and abandon his attempt to kick 100,000 working parents off of Medicaid.”
“The Governor needs to hold a town hall meeting to hear from Massachusetts families about how important Medicaid coverage is to working parents,” continued Bickford. “Our state’s US Senators have been holding open town halls and hearing directly from voters, but Governor Baker seems to only be listening to his wealthy conservative donors.”
