Baker Dodges Yet Another Forum, This One Hosted by MassEquality

BOSTON – After refusing to participate in tomorrow’s environmental forum, Republican Charlie Baker is now rejecting an invitation to a forum hosted next Tuesday by MassEquality. Baker’s snub of MassEquality, a grassroots non-profit that advocates for equality based on gender identity and sexual orientation, comes on the heels of the Republican State Committee’s overwhelming vote in favor of an anti-equality platform and the recently surfaced connection between anti-equality activists and donors to Lt. Governor candidate Karyn Polito’s campaign.

“Charlie’s refusal to participate in the MassEquality forum is another example of how his running mate, Karyn Polito, can’t deny her relationship with the extremist positions of the Republican Party,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Tom McGee. “Her voting record of rejecting equal marriage speaks for itself. It’s clear that Charlie is afraid of trying to explain why the Baker’s hand-picked candidate for Lt. Governor has a history of denying equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.”
