Massachusetts Democratic Party Submits 2020 Delegate Selection Plan to Democratic National Committee

BOSTON, MA— Last night, the Massachusetts Democratic Party sent their final 2020 Democratic National Convention Delegate Selection Plan to the Democratic National Committee. The plan was unanimously approved by the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee, composed of over 400 members from across the Commonwealth, at the April 6th Democratic State Committee Meeting in Marshfield, Massachusetts.

“The official submission of the 2020 Delegate Selection Plan is an exciting moment for the Massachusetts Democratic Party”, said Gus Bickford, Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. “Massachusetts Democrats continue to make great strides before the most important election of our lifetime. This delegate selection plan ensures all interested individuals will have an opportunity to actively engage in the 2020 nomination process.”

Massachusetts will have a total of 114 delegates and 8 alternates, evenly divided between men and women, with diversity goals for African Americans; Latinx; Native Americans; Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders; LGBTQ+; people with disabilities; and young people. Among other aspects, the plan includes an outreach and inclusion program, developed by a statewide committee of 60 members representing diverse constituencies, which places an intentional focus on informing and engaging new Party members, young people, communities of color, immigrant communities and other communities.
