MassDems Statement on Smith and Wesson’s Contribution Against Gun Safety Efforts

BOSTON–In response to the $500,000 contribution to National Shooting Sports Foundation made by Smith and Wesson last week, Massachusetts Democratic Party Executive Director Jay Cincotti made the following statement:

"Smith & Wesson's $500,000 contribution against Attorney General Healey’s efforts to stop copycat automatic weapons is morally reprehensible. Their action not only threatens public safety, but also in effect supports the homophobic and violent threats against the Attorney General and other leaders taking a stand to make our communities safer.

"In spite of the roadblocks presented by Republicans in Congress and Charlie Baker, Attorney General Healey, Congressman Moulton, Congresswoman Clark and other Democratic leaders continue to show extraordinary strength, bravery, and leadership in fighting for and enforcing sensible gun laws for the safety of us all."
