Massachusetts Democratic Party Launches Petition Calling on Governor Baker to Clarify Stance on MassGOP Attacks on LGBTQ+ Community
The State Republican party recently published a video on their social media platforms that was designed to intimidate and generate hatred toward LGBTQ+ individuals
Boston — Last week, the Massachusetts Republican Party shared a propaganda video designed to generate fear and perpetuate falsehoods about the LGBTQ+ community. Governor Charlie Baker has remained silent – failing to speak out against his party’s efforts to spread bigotry and hatred. As the House of Representatives is set to take up the Equality Act – to guarantee federal non-discrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community – the Massachusetts Democratic Party has launched a petition calling on Baker to clarify his stance regarding the actions of the MassGOP and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community here in Massachusetts.
“As we have seen time and time again, Governor Charlie Baker refuses to stand up to the Chair of his own party,” said Gus Bickford, Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. “I am proud of all nine members of our Congressional Delegation for co-sponsoring the Equality Act. Our Congressional leaders in Washington are moving our Commonwealth forward while Jim Lyons, the Massachusetts Republican Party – and apparently Charlie Baker – want to move us in the wrong direction. We can and must stand up to this hateful and bigoted rhetoric coming out of the Massachusetts Republican Party.”
