TWO DAYS TO GRASSROOTS VICTORY:
MASSDEMS CANDIDATES TAKE MESSAGE DIRECTLY TO VOTERS WHILE REPUBLICAN CHARLIE BAKER SKIPS FORUMS
Republican Baker Continues to Dodge Public Forums
BOSTON – While Massachusetts Democratic candidates are voicing their vision for the future at forums across the Commonwealth, Republican Charlie Baker refuses to let voters know where he stands on the issues.
“I’ve been to candidate forums across the Commonwealth and you can feel the grassroots energy building for our Democratic candidates because they are talking about issues and ways to move our state forward,” said Democratic Party Chair Tom McGee. “Democrats win in Massachusetts because we engage voters at the grassroots to talk about issues in their communities.
“On the other hand, Republican Charlie Baker has a pattern of refusing to participate in public forums, because he doesn’t want voters to know where he stands on investments in education, climate change and South Coast rail,” said McGee. “Voters know they can’t trust Republican Charlie Baker after he was caught orchestrating the fiscal shell game from the Big Dig financing scheme that saddled us with a $1 billion a year hole in transportation funding for cities and towns.”
So far this year Republican Charlie Baker has skipped forums focused on business, education, environmental issues and LGBT equality.
