Massachusetts Democrats Oppose Attempt to Open the Floodgates of Corporate Money in Our Elections

BOSTON – Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford released the following statement today in response to oral arguments before the Supreme Judicial Court by plaintiffs seeking to allow corporate donations to political campaigns in Massachusetts:

“The dark money proponents that brought you the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance now want to let billions of corporate donations flow into Massachusetts and infiltrate our local elections.

“Rick Green and Michael Kane have already used dark money to target Democratic candidates with misleading information. Now they want to remove laws barring corporate donations from Massachusetts elections to try and advance their right-wing, anti-worker agenda in the Commonwealth.

“Massachusetts Democrats remain committed to getting dark money out of politics by taking on these local groups and advocating for strong federal campaign finance reform.”
