MASSACHUSETTS DEMOCRATS CALL ON MBTA’S RAMIREZ TO RECUSE HIMSELF FROM BAKER’S PRIVATIZATION SCHEME

BOSTON – Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford today called for MBTA General Manager Luis Ramirez to recuse himself in response to reports that only one company has put in a bid for Governor Baker’s privatization scheme at the MBTA:

“If General Manager Ramirez approves this no-competition contract to privatize bus maintenance at the T, he’ll get to pad his paycheck with an $8,000 bonus. This is a clear conflict of interest for Ramirez, especially given his total lack of transit experience. The MBTA needs to abandon Governor Baker’s privatization scheme and start working with their best-in-the-nation bus mechanics to do what’s best for riders.”
