(BOSTON)– Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh today released the following statement following Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray’s resignation:

“It’s not surprising that one of Massachusetts’ strongest voices for economic growth and jobs chose a strong leader like Tim Murray. Congratulations to the Worcester Chamber and to Tim Murray.

Lieutenant Governor Murray has been a powerful voice for the people of the Commonwealth and has taken the lead on a large portfolio of issues ranging from the economic strength of all of the Commonwealth, veterans services and Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. In addition, he’s been in the lead for municipalities, homelessness and domestic violence. His tireless commitment to promoting economic development and investing in infrastructure has transformed our state and created opportunities for its citizens.

He has been a valuable member of the Patrick administration and, of particular interest to me, has been an innovator when it comes to grassroots politics that engages voters one-on-one. We wish him the best of luck as the CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.”
