Massachusetts Democratic Party announces Emily Fitzmaurice as Director of Communications
BOSTON – Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford today announced that Emily Fitzmaurice will serve as Director of Communications for the Party. Fitzmaurice will work with Chairman Bickford, the Democratic State Committee, and elected leaders to coordinate and promote the Democratic agenda and narrative.
“The Massachusetts Democratic Party must have enhanced communications capabilities to combat the Trump and Baker administrations,” Bickford said. “Emily’s broad experience makes her the right person to lead the communications team we are assembling.”
Fitzmaurice joins the Massachusetts Democratic Party after working on the Save Our Public Schools campaign against the Question 2 Charter School ballot question and on the Hillary for America campaign. In the past, Fitzmaurice served in the Patrick Administration as Communications Director for the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and as Communications Director for Senate Ways and Means Chairwoman Karen Spilka (D-Ashland). Born and raised in Massachusetts, Fitzmaurice grew up in Norwell and currently resides in Arlington.
“In Massachusetts, we are lucky to have strong elected officials standing up for the important Democratic values we hold dear, including access to healthcare, high quality public education, and protecting the services our most vulnerable residents rely upon,” said Fitzmaurice. “I look forward to working with Party leaders and the rank and file to fight against the regressive Republican agenda – both locally and nationally – and ensure our collective voice is heard.”
Fitzmaurice is the second new staff member Bickford has announced in recent days. Last week, he announced former Patrick Administration member Veronica Martinez will serve as Executive Director of the Party.
