MASSACHUSETTS DEMOCRATIC PARTY ANNOUNCES DANA REBEIRO AS COMMUNITIES OF COLOR DIRECTOR

New Bedford City Councilor To Increase Statewide Participation and Voter Engagement

BOSTON – Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Tom McGee today announced New Bedford City Councilor Dana Rebeiro as statewide Communities of Color Director. Councilor Rebeiro will work with elected officials, community leaders, civic associations and activists across the Commonwealth to engage underrepresented populations and increase voter participation.

“The Democratic Party is the Party of inclusion and empowerment. We speak to the aspirations of hard working families in communities of color, many of whom live in our Gateway Cities,” said McGee. “Under Gov. Patrick and the Democratic legislature, our ideas and initiatives are moving this Commonwealth forward, but we know we can keep improving. Hiring Dana is another example of the Democratic Party’s belief in grassroots campaigning and governing.”

“So much is at stake in November and in order for communities of color to have our voices heard on education, job creation, healthcare and public safety, we need to elect Democrats,” said Rebeiro. “The Democratic Party is committed to the kind of grassroots campaigning that generates participation and I’m excited to get to work.”
