MASSACHUSETTS DEMOCRATIC PARTY CALLS ON REPUBLICAN CHARLIE BAKER TO RELEASE CONTRACT TO HELP ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT CHRIS CHRISTIE CONTROVERY

With an Investigation Underway in New Jersey, Republican Baker Has Yet to Clear Up Voter Concerns

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Democratic Party today called on Republican Charlie Baker to release his employment contract to help address lingering questions still simmering from the recent media reports about the Chris Christie pension fund controversy.

While the New Jersey Investment Council is investigating an alleged pay-to-play scandal involving Republican Baker and Governor Chris Christie, Republican Baker is taking a page out of the Christie playbook by paying his own lawyers to author a report exonerating him of wrongdoing. With many questions remaining unanswered about what he knew and when he knew it, the Massachusetts Democratic Party today called on Republican Charlie Baker to release his contract with venture capitalist firm, General Catalyst.

“What kind of contract does Republican Charlie Baker have where he lists himself as an employee, has an office, an executive assistant, travels on behalf of the firm and receives a paycheck, yet still claims he doesn’t really work there?” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Executive Director Matt Fenlon. “Considering there’s now an investigation by the New Jersey Investment Council, it’s time Republican Baker stop hiding and show voters the information they deserve – and that means releasing his contract.

“We are now in week number five of this scandal since Pando.com first reported the story and the Massachusetts media has done their own reporting–it is time for answers,” Fenlon added.
