Massachusetts Democrats Blast Governor Baker’s Refusal to Address MBTA Failures
BOSTON – Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford responded to today’s widespread failures on the MBTA’s green line, which stranded hundreds of commuters, with the following statement:
“Governor Baker said his ‘vision’ for the T is ‘making it work.’ Well, Governor, even with the incredibly low bar you’ve set, you’ve failed.
“Massachusetts commuters deserve better and deserve a Governor that will stand up for them. They’re sick and tired of being late to work, missing appointments, and hearing their train is being ‘taken out of service.’ And most of all, they’re sick and tired of being treated like second class citizens by Governor Baker.
“It’s time the Governor admits he has no plan to fix the T and that the daily struggles of our commuters and working families aren’t one of his priorities.
“Maybe if he actually took the T once during these past three years and saw what thousands face every day, he’d realize the toll his budget cuts and apathy have on our daily lives.”
