Massachusetts Democratic Party Staff Ratify Collective Bargaining Agreement
Boston — The Massachusetts Democratic Party is proud to announce that staff members are joining an increasing number of party and campaign staff unionizing across the country, designating IBEW Local 2321 as their bargaining representative.
Contract negotiations between staff and management took just two business days, resulting in an agreement ratified by the union to be formally adopted by the Democratic State Committee at the November 12, 2020 meeting.
“Massachusetts Democrats have long stood beside workers and their families,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford. “Fair pay, economic security, and safe working conditions are mainstays of our Party, along with the right to organize and join a union. IBEW has a long history of fighting hard for working folks, and I enthusiastically support the staff’s decision to organize with IBEW Local 2321.”
“We were pleased to sit across the table from partners who wholeheartedly share our values of dignity and fairness for all, no matter your employer,” said IBEW Local 2321 Business Manager Craig Fields. “The members of the IBEW 2321 bargaining team representing party staff commend Massachusetts Democratic Party leadership for further codifying their commitment to the people working for MassDems and to all the workers of our Commonwealth.”
