Summer with the Senator, Picnics, Cookouts and More – 07/05/2017
Greetings from Kate
Dear Democrats,
I hope that everyone enjoyed Independence Day!
If you are in the Berkshires, the Vineyard or the Cape you can “Summer with the Senator.” Senator Elizabeth Warren is hosting Town Hall meetings in all three areas in the coming days. Details are in the calendar section.
Many have been involved in efforts to reach voters in other states to get them to call their Senators to protect the ACA. These efforts have paid off. But the GOP continues to look at cutting health care benefits in draconian ways. Use this link if you want sign up to help in this critical effort:

As we move into summer schedules, it’s easy to think, politics can wait. There are many things that people can be doing now.
— As Democrats we can be building connections with other groups, looking for common interests and helping each other out.
— Outdoor community projects can be a way to have fun together, do some good and raise your profile in the community.
— There are municipal elections as well as special elections. Campaigns are a great opportunity for those who are newly engaged. For those who have been involved over the years, local campaigns are a fantastic way to build your campaign experience in a range of areas.
— Voter registration continues to be an important way to make a difference.
— Folks in Massachusetts continue to work to Flip the House. Democrats and Democratic groups are having picnics and celebrations all summer. Forward this e-mail to someone who has been saying, “We marched. Now what?”
And while you are doing all of the above, take some time to enjoy summer!
Democratically yours,
Kate Donaghue

PS Events and schedules change rapidly. Matt and I work hard to get the most up to date information, but sometimes we don’t receive notices of changes. Weather can cause cancellations and postponements as well. If in doubt, check with the organizers.
NOTE: We are hearing that people are having trouble sending events to the DDemdDispatch-owner@yahoogroups.com address. Please continue to use that address, but please cc me at KateDonaghue@aol.com

Submitting Events
Please send us your Democratic events. We want to publicize what you are doing. We usually go to press on Friday AM, so make sure you send your info no later than Thursday evening to get into that week’s issue.
1) Use subject line “For the Dispatch”
2) Put your event information in text format in the body of the email. Please include start time, end time (if any), location (with street address for GPS), event description (it’s good to mention food/drink/donations/RSVP), and a link to more info.
3) Send to DDemDispatch-owner@yahoogroups.com
Note that unlike some other Yahoo groups, replies and other comments sent to us at ddemdispatch-owner@yahoogroups.com come only to us and are not published.
The Democratic Dispatch is a more or less weekly e-mail newsletter for Democratic events across the state. Your editors are Kate Donaghue and Matt Shear. Pace Willisson handles the tech stuff. We edit this as volunteers as our way of promoting the Democratic Party, Democratic candidates and the Democratic Platform. The positions represented in the regular “Greetings from Kate” or “Greetings from Matt” reflect our personal positions, and not those of the Democratic Party.
Thanks! Kate Donaghue (and Matt Shear)
