Post Election Issue – 11/10/2018

Greetings from Kate and Matt

Dear Democrats,

A week ago we were ready to launch the final four days of Get Out The Vote. Voter contact volunteers made a difference here and across the country. During early voting I had the opportunity to drive a new citizen to vote. It’s very moving to have that kind of experience. Others have talked of how just a reminder to make a plan or information about where to vote can make the difference between someone voting and not voting.

I’ll share the words of our reelected senior Senator:

“You gotta stay in the fight.”

“Tonight, as the first cracks begin to appear in that wall, let us declare that our fight is not over until we have transformed our government…into one that works, not just for the rich and powerful, but for everyone. And tomorrow? We get right back in the fight!”

Getting involved just around election time isn’t enough. If you are reading my words, chances are you know this. Keep people involved as we move forward. The future of our country is at stake.

Democratically yours,

Kate Donaghue

PS Please be sure that you use the DDemDispatch-owner e-mail address when sending in events. And please keep in mind that Matt and I work hard to try to get the most up to date information, but sometimes things change or there is a miscommunication. Check with the organizer or the website if you see something that looks wrong.

Ideas for Committees – Reach Out to Campaign Volunteers

Now that campaigns are over this is a good time to start building local Democratic Party organizations. It is a great way to maintain relationships and enthusiasm between campaigns. People are more likely to start political involvement through campaigns and elections, rather than through Democratic organizations.

Reach out to people in your area who volunteered. Invite them to your meetings. Do an election debrief. Have a thank you party. Add them to your email lists. And call them. Make them feel welcome!
