Greetings from Kate and Matt
Dear Democrats,
The Mass Democratic Party, and many organizations, have been part of the RaiseUp coalition. I am excited to have been involved in this extraordinary effort. It really shows how working together we can make a difference. Below is information from the RaiseUp announcement.
Earlier this week, the Massachusetts legislature passed a bill that includes a strongly progressive Paid Family and Medical Leave program and increases the minimum wage to $15 an hour over 5 years! This is an enormous victory for working people in Massachusetts, and it only happened because so many worked hard to collect 350,000 signatures, lobby the legislature, and organized to win these changes. The paid leave legislation passed by the Legislature is a historic victory for every single worker in Massachusetts who will now be able to take job-protected paid time off from work to take care of themselves or a family member after a medical emergency or the birth or adoption of a new child!
There are many opportunities to get involved in campaigns that are listed below. Please find something and do something! Individuals can make a difference!!
Democratically yours,
Kate Donaghue
PS Please be sure that you use the DDemDispatch-owner e-mail address when sending in events. And please keep in mind that Matt and I work hard to try to get the most up to date information, but sometimes things change or there is a miscommunication. Check with the organizer or the webiste if you see something that looks wrong.

Ideas for Committees – Make Your Meeting a Picnic
Looking for a way to make your summer meeting fun and memorable? Or want to have a low key, easy to cater event? Watermelon and Hoodsies! (Ice cream cups for those not from the area.) You can meet informally in a park or someone’s yard as part of a regular business meeting. Or you can make it a summer afternoon event without the hassle of grills and plates and forks. You do need spoons and a knife for cutting the watermelon. You can turn a meeting at your regular meeting room into an indoor picnic! Easy fun and affordable!

You Have to Laugh Occasionally – Edited by Matt Shear
Frank Conniff – Republicans do not approve of separating families, and they’d like to do something about it, but unfortunately they control both houses of Congress so their hands are tied.
John Fugelsang – Trump ended the child kidnapping policy he had started; and he hasn’t been this proud of himself since he brought us back from the brink of nuclear war with North Korea, which he had brought us to.
Stephen Colbert – Trump signed “something” to “keep families together.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t resignation papers.
