More Holiday Events and Special Invitation from Kate
Greetings from Kate and Matt
Dear Democrats,
My weekly introduction is easy this time of year! A lot of political activity is winding down and I don’t have it in me to comment on “Individual 1.” I am free to promote the Westborough Dems Holiday Party, which I know has come to be known as Kate’s party.
Every year I invite Dispatch readers. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Secretary Bill Galvin, Congressman Jim McGovern, State Senator Jamie Eldridge and State Rep. Carolyn Dykema all plan to attend. The party is on Sunday December 16th from 2 to 6 pm at the Red Heat Tavern in Westborough. We anticipate county officials and legislators from across the state to join us. Just a reminder that this is a holiday open house. Our special guests come and go just like everyone else! See details below.
The Red Heat Tavern takes part in Westborough Toy Drive. If you are interested, please bring a new unwrapped toy or book to donate. I want people to know that this is an option and that many may prefer to help in their own communities.
Democratically yours,
Kate Donaghue
PS Please be sure that you use the DDemDispatch-owner e-mail address when sending in events. And please keep in mind that Matt and I work hard to try to get the most up to date information, but sometimes things change or there is a miscommunication. Check with the organizer or the website if you see something that looks wrong.
Ideas for Committees – Political Memorabilia Swap
Want an easy way to turn your December or January meeting into a holiday or post holiday event? Have a Yankee Swap of political memorabilia. You can add the option of a non-political item for those who don’t accumulate political stuff as much as I do.
Keep it simple and fun. Follow whatever rules you like for swaps. Encourage re-gifting if you are doing this at a post holiday celebration. You want to make sure that enough people are taking part so that you have some fun, without putting pressure on folks who don’t want to try to figure out what to bring. It can be helpful to quietly encourage those who have multiple items that they want to move forward to bring them so that as many people as possible have a chance to take part.
If my suggestion is too late for a holiday swap for your group, then consider the same thing in April in celebration of Earth Day!
