March Events and More

Greetings from Kate and Matt
Dear Democrats,

I keep hoping for spring! At least it feels like we are in the home stretch. Today, I thought I would take a minute to suggest a couple of good training events coming up. The first is the Democratic Campaign Institute (DCI) on March 30 and 31. The DCI was started in the 1990s. I attended the first DCI when I was just beginning to engage in the Democratic Party beyond simply volunteering on campaigns. I have learned a great deal and made many connections at DCIs over the past thirty years. Many thanks to Chairman Gus Bickford for bringing back the DCI! Details here:

On the following weekend on April 6, the DSC is meeting in Marshfield in the morning, followed by a Chair’s meeting in the afternoon. We’re hoping for a beautiful spring day on the South Shore!

Democratically yours,

Kate Donaghue

PS Please be sure that you use the DDemDispatch-owner e-mail address when sending in events. And please keep in mind that Matt and I work hard to try to get the most up to date information, but sometimes things change or there is a miscommunication. Check with the organizer or the website if you see something that looks wrong.

Ideas for Committees – Scheduling your Caucus
REMINDER: If you haven’t already scheduled you caucus, consider doing so soon.
April 19th: Deadline for submitting caucus date and location to Mass Dems.
May 11th to June 16th: Caucus window.
September 14th: State Convention, MassMutual Center, Springfield
OTHER CHANGES: This is the third year in which pre-registered Democrats can take part in our caucuses and run for delegate. Under state law citizens who are 16 and 17 can pre-register to vote. This year, as long as a person is 16 years of age or older on May 11th, and is a registered or pre-registered Democrat as of the day of the caucus the person can participate in a local caucus.

The Democratic Dispatch is a more or less weekly e-mail newsletter for Democratic events across the state. Your editors are Kate Donaghue and Matt Shear. Pace Willisson handles the tech stuff. We edit this as volunteers as our way of promoting the Democratic Party, Democratic candidates and the Democratic Platform. The positions represented in the regular “Greetings from Kate” or “Greetings from Matt” reflect our personal positions, and not those of the Democratic Party.
