Hosting Online Events, Trainings, & More!
Dear Democrats,
I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe and healthy! As we all adjust to our new normal, at least for right now, many of you may be thinking of taking your meetings and events online.
Kate said it best last week with: “Moving forward with campaign activities and elections safely is critical for Democracy. We cannot put Democracy on hold.” It’s so important that we take the time to familiarize ourselves with the online conferencing and live streaming tools we have available to us, because while some people (and you know who I’m talking about) say that this will all be over by Easter, the truth is that health experts are still urging us to take this virus seriously and stay home.
With that in mind, here are some tools that you can use to take your meetings and events online!
Zoom is one of MassDems’ go-to tools for hosting our own meetings. You can either invite your participants via email, or you can send around/post a registration link so anyone can register themselves! The free version of Zoom can host up to 100 participants.
Instagram or Facebook Live is excellent for hosting Q&As and live streaming things like speeches or performances, etc. You can reach people who might not register for a Zoom meeting but will tune in to your event if they’re already online.
Google Hangouts are useful for small, private events, or just hanging out with friends! It’s free for up to 25 participants and is set up using your Gmail account. Like Zoom, you can invite people through email or calendar invite.
Remember: if you decide to take your meeting or event online, email events@massdems.org so we can list it in the Dispatch! Thank you and have a great weekend!
All the best,
Allison Mitchell
MassDems Communications Manager
Ideas for Committees
Let us know about your committee’s reorganization! The window is April 3 to April 12 to organize your committee and elect (or re-elect) your officers. Let us know the date, time, and remote participation information of your training here.
We’ve also created a digital Reorganization Toolkit with everything you’ll need to run a successful meeting. You’ll find all the documents you need, as well as our tips for hosting a remote meeting, all at massdems.org/reorgtoolkit.
