Greetings from Kate and Matt
Dear Democrats,
In the wake of Trump’s continued inhumane practice of separating families at the border, thousands are rising up all over the nation in protest. See the box below for information on how you can take part.
I just returned from DC where I volunteered as a mentor as the annual gathering of the High School Democrats of America. These young people are literally inspirational. I continue to be impressed by what they are accomplishing. I like to say that they are not simply the leaders of tomorrow; they are leaders today!
As Independence Day draws closer, think about the actions that the colonists took and why. Democracy is not a spectator sport. Get comfortable talking about your values and why you are a Democrat.
Democratically yours,
Kate Donaghue
PS Please be sure that you use the DDemDispatch-owner e-mail address when sending in events. And please keep in mind that Matt and I work hard to try to get the most up to date information, but sometimes things change or there is a miscommunication. Check with the organizer or the webiste if you see something that looks wrong.

Ideas for Committees – Make Your Meeting a Picnic
Looking for a way to make your summer meeting fun and memorable? Or want to have a low key, easy to cater event? Watermelon and Hoodsies! (Ice cream cups for those not from the area.) You can meet informally in a park or someone’s yard as part of a regular business meeting. Or you can make it a summer afternoon event without the hassle of grills and plates and forks. You do need spoons and a knife for cutting the watermelon. You can turn a meeting at your regular meeting room into an indoor picnic! Easy fun and affordable!
