Elizabeth Warren Cookout in Natick – 07/06/2018

Greetings from Kate and Matt

Dear Democrats,

Here in Massachusetts we are privileged to have leaders like Senator Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey and my member of Congress Jim McGovern. As individuals we can make a difference with demonstrations and rallies, and of course talking to voters directly. Check out the events below and get connected to a campaign. Invite a friend or neighbor to join you in getting people to vote for candidates who share your values.

This weekend Senator Elizabeth Warren is having a town hall meeting and cookout in Natick. Please see the details below. RSVPs are high so arrive early to ensure that you can get in. There was some confusion around the timing of the event. Doors open at 2 pm and the event begins at 3 pm. Whether you are already active in the campaign or if you are looking for a way to get involved, this should be a fun event!

Democratically yours,

Kate Donaghue

PS Please be sure that you use the DDemDispatch-owner e-mail address when sending in events. And please keep in mind that Matt and I work hard to try to get the most up to date information, but sometimes things change or there is a miscommunication. Check with the organizer or the webiste if you see something that looks wrong.

Message from MDP Chair Gus Bickford.

As we continue to celebrate and reflect this Fourth of July, it is great to see so many Massachusetts Democrats taking to the streets to protect our rights and defend against the destructive and divisive Trump agenda.

Saturday, we saw Democrats across the state lead the charge against Trump’s cruel and inhumane immigration policies – standing up for the families being ripped apart at our southern border and reminding us all that our nation one of inclusion, built upon the hard work of immigrants looking to create a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

This is what democracy is all about.

We will continue the fight. We will stay on the doors. We will keep holding those in charge accountable for their repeated violations against our rights and the values our nation was built upon – freedom, liberty, and equality.

We need your help. Whether you’re organizing local Democrats, knocking doors, or taking to the streets – let me know what you’re up to so we can share it widely with our networks. Let’s show everyone how united and ready we are to take on the Republicans this November.

Click here or scroll to the end to see Gus’ list of videos and highlights of Senators Warren and Markey, members of Congress Kennedy, Clark and McGovern and AG Maura Healey’s work and messages.

Ideas for Committees – Ice Cream

If you don’t have a speaker for a summer meeting, move it to your local ice cream parlor. Or end your meeting early and discuss Democratic politics over ice cream after your meeting. When people gather informally they get comfortable with each other and are better equipped to work well together.

Breakfast Reception for Dan Koh’s Congressional Campaign

You Have to Laugh Occasionally – Edited by Matt Shear

LOLGOP – [Re NBC News: U.S. intelligence agencies believe that North Korea has increased its production of fuel for nuclear weapons at multiple secret sites in recent months] In retaliation, Trump is threatening another round of fierce compliments for Kim Jong Un.

Frank Conniff – [Re Trump to rescind Obama-era guidance that called for schools to consider race in admissions.] Trump wants it to be as easy for a person of color to get into college as it was to rent an apartment from him in the 1970s.

John Fugelsang – Guys, all this incivility towards Scott Pruitt, Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Alan Dershowitz is making it harder for me to enjoy rising gas prices, rising health care premiums, children stolen from their moms and the “For Sale” sign on the White House lawn.

Last weekend’s messages and highlights from our fearless Democratic leaders:

Senator Elizabeth Warren’s video about how important it is to challenge Trump’s border policies: “…we will not permit America to break up families. And that’s how I see this. Donald Trump is not King. The power is with the people.”

https://bit.ly/2tZMyCh

Video of Senator Markey’s remarks at Saturday’s march in Boston: “Donald Trump wants to make America hate again and we are standing up and saying that he will not take our country.

Coverage of Congressman Joe Kennedy’s remarks on Saturday: “We stand up and we say, not on our watch. Not while we have something to say about it…they will stand up and fight for our humanity and the humanity of our neighborhood.”

https://bit.ly/2zi22qa

Congresswoman Katherine Clark’s posts and photos from the Framingham rally: @From MA5 to our nation’s capital and across the country, Americans are taking to the streets to stand in solidarity with immigrant families until they are reunited.”

https://bit.ly/2tYQdAd

Congressman Jim McGovern’s video from the Worcester march: “This is about tearing up families and that goes against our values. That betrays who we are and we need to stand up to that.”

https://bit.ly/2ueIQ78

Attorney General Healey’s video with Alyssa Milano on why she’s suing to stop family separation: “President Trump’s family separation policy isn’t just illegal – it’s immoral. Families remain apart. We can’t turn our back on them.”

https://bit.ly/2ze5r9B

Coverage of Senators Warren and Markey calling on the Trump administration to release the full list of separated families to ensure we are taking steps to reunite all families.
