DISPATCH: DNC District Caucus by Mail, Town Halls, & More!
Dear Democrats,
I hope you’re staying healthy and safe and staying home as much as possible during this crisis. While things are just starting to look up for many, Massachusetts is in the middle of a surge of COVID-19 cases and we must continue to take this threat seriously.
Right now, we’re at the cross section of a global pandemic and the most important election of our lives. Democrats have been working hard to continue talking to voters and building coalitions, all while giving people the time and resources they need to deal with an unprecedented health crisis. If anything, the past month has shown us just how important it is that we find new, safe ways to continue our work during this pandemic.
To keep democracy moving forward, the MassDems are holding caucuses to elect district delegates to the Democratic National Convention completely by mail. No one should have to risk their health to cast a ballot, and we should be making it easier–not harder–to engage with our Party during this crisis. So, instead of meeting for congressional district caucuses at the end of this month, Democrats have until April 22 to request a ballot for candidates for delegate in their district. They’ll have until May 4 to complete and send back their ballots. Click here to request your ballot.
The Democratic National Convention is where Democrats talk about our vision for a stronger, more united America, and launch Joe Biden to victory in November. You can make your voice heard at this historic event by choosing who you want to represent you in Milwaukee this August–so request your ballot before April 22!
As always, remember to send your virtual events to events@massdems.org and have a safe and healthy weekend!
All the best,
Allison Mitchell
MassDems Communications Manager
(P.S. There are still 4 special elections happening this spring! Click here to view phone banks for next week.)
Ideas for Committees
With the reorganization window behind us, there are a few things new chairs and treasurers should remember to do before their next meeting:
- Update your Statement of Organization with the MassDems, OCPF, the Secretary of the Commonwealth, and your local clerk. Instructions for filing can be found at the top at the form, and you can submit it to the MassDems at contact@massdems.org.
- Review your by-laws and the Chairs Manual. Reach out to former officers for a copy of their local by-laws. If your committee is completely new, the Model By-Laws (Appendix D of the Chair’s Manual) are in effect for your committee until you’re able to set your own.
- Request Votebuilder. Don’t forget to request Votebuilder or update who the Admin is for your committee.
More information can be found at massdems.org/reorgtoolkit, and feel free to call the MassDems at (617) 939-0800, or email contact@massdems.org with any other questions, comments or concerns you may have.
