Democrats had a banner year in 2018: We flipped the House of Representatives, elected a diverse, representative slate of candidates, and, right here in Massachusetts, more people engaged in our midterm elections than ever before.
Now, it’s up to us to build on that momentum.
The 2019 MassDems Action Agenda Convention is an important opportunity to come together and talk about how we fight to make progress on real issues like climate change, healthcare, education, immigration, and civil rights. During the convention, you’ll join breakout sessions to work collaboratively with other delegates to develop strategies to organize for critical issues facing our Commonwealth.
2019 Action Agenda Convention Breakout Sessions
We are excited to announce our breakout sessions for the 2019 State Convention in Springfield. We have provided a title and description of each breakout session below. Be sure to look out for our breakout registration form in the coming weeks!
The Green New Deal and a Brighter Future: Taking on Climate Change, Sustainability and Clean Energy
This panel will focus on the mechanics of the Green New Deal and how we can fight for a greener future on the local, state and federal level.
Building Bridges Not Walls: Understanding the Real Facts on Immigration
Hear from lawyers, undocumented voices and others about the realities of the immigration process and learn what you can do to support our friends, family and neighbors in this fight.
Time for the Talk: Unpacking Race in Politics
This panel will focus on enduring racism in both American politics and policy. It will explore the historic and modern impact of racism on communities of color, white privilege, being an ally, and how we can collectively fight back against a President that promotes white supremacy.
Inclusive Economic Prosperity: Challenges and Opportunities
Hear from a panel of economic development experts about transformative approaches that can strengthen job creation and small businesses in our urban, suburban and rural communities throughout Massachusetts. Help us develop an action agenda that will narrow the racial wealth divide in the Commonwealth!
In This Fight Together: Spotlighting the Work of Coalitions and Allies
No one should march alone– meet our partners in the fight for Democratic values including women’s rights advocates, labor leaders and others to learn how we can best support one another.
Saturday isn’t the only day to get involved at the Convention: informal events will take place on Friday, September 13th as well. Join friends at parties and other events hosted by elected officials, Democratic activists, and progressive groups. With events like the Big E, and landmarks such as the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum, this is a great opportunity to explore the City of Springfield!
