Statement from The Massachusetts Democratic Party

What's Willard Thinking?

Dear Massachusetts Democrats:

. . . another week, another out-of-state excursion for Governor Mitt Romney. On Friday, the governor is headlining a Republican Party fundraiser in -- where else – New Hampshire , home of the first Presidential primary. Apparently the governor couldn't pack ‘em in here in Massachusetts. I bet he'll skip over the statement made this week by his advisor, Mike Murphy, who claims that Mitt has been "faking" his pro-choice position since the start of his political career. (read The Boston Globe article)

So, a week after Romney told USA Today he's “in a different place” regarding his views on a woman's right to choose and just days after his failed attempt to stop embryonic stem cell research and, after holding a phony press conference to announce his major legislation on auto insurance reform (what legislation? what reform?), Romney is going to New Hampshire to talk about “balancing the budget and creating jobs.” And they're charging $100 a ticket for this?

It is far more likely that Governor Romney will charm them with his “evolving” views on Roe v Wade. Or maybe he'll enthrall the crowd with the story about how he championed stem cell research in 2002 then changed his mind in 2005. It's highly probable Romney will make some petty remarks about Massachusetts -- he got a chuckle with the line he used in South Carolina about being “a vegetarian at a cattle ranch.” On second thought, maybe it would be worth $100 if the governor slips in the bit about giving serious consideration to running for re-election.
