Statement by Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Phil Johnston on Special Election Victories

April 13, 2005

“Democrats are three-for-three, winning by a landslide in each of yesterday's special legislative elections.”

“It doesn't get better than this,” said Democratic Party Chair Phil Johnston. “The three Democratic candidates won by big margins in their districts, proving once again that Democrats are talking about issues that voters want to hear about – their commitment to provide affordable heath care for all, to improve our public schools, and to create new jobs.”

“Voters understand that Democrats are serious about improving the quality of life in Massachusetts . Democrats believe that politics isn't about divisiveness: It's about working together to improve the standard of living for every man, woman and child.”

“I am most pleased that the people of these three districts – the 3 rd Berkshire , the 12 th Suffolk and the 18 th Suffolk– will be represented by the best the future has to offer. Chris Speranzo, Linda Dorcena Forry and Mike Moran and are young, energetic and intelligent and they will represent their constituents with enthusiasm and honor.”
