Elected as the Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party in October of 2013, Tom has a long history of service to the Commonwealth. He was elected State Representative from the city of Lynn and Nahant in 1994 and won election to the State Senate in 2002, where he represents the Third Essex District. Tom serves as chair of the Senate Committee on Transportation, Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Development, and on the Ways and Means Committee as well as on Global Warming and Climate Change Committee. Before entering the legislature, Tom worked as an attorney and as assistant D.A. in Essex County. Long active in Democratic politics, Tom was first elected to the State Committee over thirty years ago and has been an elected delegate to several national conventions. As Chair and as State Senator, Tom is committed to improving education, transportation infrastructure and advocating for healthcare and training for working families. Tom received an undergraduate degree from UMass Lowell and a law degree from New England School of Law. Tom, his wife Maria and two children live in Lynn.
Matt joined the Party as Executive Director in October of 2013. Most recently Matt worked for Congressman Richard E. Neal in a variety of roles including communications director, director of scheduling and operations and district representative. Matt also served as Regional Field Director for the 2010 re-election of Gov. Deval Patrick and Lt. Gov Tim Murray, for Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey and in New Hampshire and Ohio for President Obama. Matt was also a member of Dan Wolf’s campaign for Governor. Matt studied at Springfield College and will be graduating in May with an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at UMASS Amherst. In his spare time, Matt enjoys traveling, cooking, the Red Sox, college basketball and is an unabashed fan of Survivor.
Mike joined the party as data director in November of 2014. He brings with him experience in both data and field from his previous positions as a data administrator for SEIU, a field organizer on Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Ed Markey’s campaigns, and a regional field director on the campaign of Congresswoman Katherine Clark. A Winchester native and Brookline resident, Mike is an alumnus of The Ohio State University and is an avid fan of the Buckeyes, Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Bob Seger.
Dana Rebeiro, a New Bedford native, has served as the party’s outreach director to communities of color in Massachusetts since December of 2013. She helps ensure the party is properly responsive to and representative of our diverse state. Dana serves on the New Bedford City Council, representing the city’s 4th Ward. Dana studied communications and political science at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and returned home to focus on revitalizing New Bedford. Dana has a great affinity for film, and produced a documentary and several short films in an effort to spark change in the city.
Jacob joined the party in November of 2014 as Research Director. A graduate of Tufts University, Jacob led the Tufts chapter of the College Democrats and coordinated voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts on campus. Jacob worked as a field organizer for Ed Markey’s 2013 campaign for U.S. Senate and helped plan social action campaigns for films at Participant Media.
Patrick joined the party as Press Secretary in August of 2014. Coming to the party from a public affairs consulting firm, Patrick has also previously held field roles on the campaigns of Senator Ed Markey and Congressman Stephen Lynch and served several years as an aide in the Massachusetts legislature to State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz and State Representative Michael Kane. Patrick also contributed to the elections of Congressman Richard Neal and Senator Elizabeth Warren in his hometown of Holyoke. Patrick attended Suffolk University where he studied government, but originally entered college with dreams of being a history teacher.
Sarah joined the party as Finance Director in November of 2013. Most recently Sarah worked as Finance Director with John Tierney’s Congressional campaign. Previously, Sarah served as Deputy Finance Director for Niki Tsongas’ 2012 Congressional campaign, and Field Director for Bob McCarthy’s State Senate campaign. She also interned for Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley’s first campaigns in 2009 and 2011, and returned to volunteer in 2013. Sarah is a Lexington native and has lived in Somerville since proudly graduating from Mount Holyoke College in 2011. In her spare time she can be found watching Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and rooting for the Boston Bruins.
