Kathleen Walker is proudly serving her 10th year on the Charlton Board of Selectmen. She is running for the seat in the 6th Worcester District that includes the towns of Southbridge and Dudley, precincts 1, 2, and 3 in Charlton, and precinct 4 in Spencer.
She is on the Board of Directors of the MASS Municipal Association, Local Government Advisory Commission and is an Officer of the MASS Selectman’s Association. She was a Lease Negotiator and Site Acquisition Specialist for the U.S. Postal Service and through that position she developed excellent negotiation skills. Along with her earnest desire to make a difference, she knows she can better represent the people of the 6th Worcester district on Beacon Hill.
AB&C meetings – initiated and organized this twice yearly meeting of All Boards and Committees in Charlton – ongoing for three years
MBTE Contamination – since 2004 involved in investigation and eventual resolution of contamination problems from a spill on the MASS Pike. Participated in numerous meetings with DEP, initiated a Water Search Committee, supported negotiations with Southbridge. Recently saw the re-opening of water lines to previously contaminated properties.
Senior Tax Work-Off Program – revitalized and initiated changes to this program to help seniors pay their taxes and stay in their homes
Kathleen holds a BS in Sociology/Anthropology with from Northeastern University. Continuing Education at Harvard Institute of Learning in Retirement at Harvard University, Cambridge; Five College Learning in Retirement, Northampton; the Worcester Institute for Senior Education at Assumption College in Worcester.
She is married to Mike Lally and is the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren. She enjoys downhill and cross country skiing, biking, walking, gardening, belongs to a book club, volunteers for the Red Cross and is a member of First Parish Church Bedford Unitarian Universalist.
